Free Live Call: Saving the World by Saving Ourselves

Led by Taber Shadburne, M.A., Creator of "R/evolutionary R/elating," certified Master Trainer in Radical Honesty, & Founder of Church of Soul

About the Live Call

(Call Introduction Written by Manal from the Church of Soul team)

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." – Gandhi

It seems like the world is more out of control then ever – climate change, political upheaval, economic inequality…. And it’s hard to know what exactly to do about it.  Do I campaign against big polluters?  Do I quit my work and move to a refugee camp to help?  Do I organize others and try to overhaul the political system?  Or, do I hit the ‘eject button’ and move to the mountains?

I feel like I’ve tried everything! I’ve spent 15 years working on renewable energy and environmental policy, worked most of my career as a public servant… started numerous activist groups and nonprofits, I sit on boards and raise money for the causes I believe in…. I co-founded a successful renewable energy company… and still, I feel this agony. This restlessness.  This nagging. I am never satisfied.

And for years, I thought if I could do “just one more thing” -  change just one more person or one more regulation, write one more new law, make just a little more money… that the world would be fixed or that at least I could be at peace.  That I could rest.

And, same thing in my personal life…. It seems more and more hectic, stressed, frantic… like I can’t escape the craziness of the outside.

I’ve been married, divorced, moved across the U.S., saved money, spent money, traveled around the world… and I still fantasize about that magic person, that magic job, magic city, magic community that will ease this ache.

Well, sadly none of that really matters.  Not the city, not my partner, not my job, not my friends or family… nothing. No one or no-thing is going to ease my restlessness.

What matters first… before taking any action or engaging with anyone else is clearing out my own inner state.   Learning to know MYSELF, to accept MYSELF – and the world around me exactly as we are.  To have compassion with MYSELF, which surprisingly is much more difficult that having compassion for others.

This sounds paradoxical… how can I fix things by doing nothing?  How can I create deeper relationships by spending more time alone?

Well, its not about doing nothing, its about clearing out enough of my inner gunk, so that I'm able to do and relate from a cleaner; deeper part of myself.

To do from an inspired place.  To love from an honest place.

Not out of anger or anxiety.  Not out of insecurity. Not out of fear.

So now my first task is to tend to myself.  To clear out my past, to seek out the darker parts of my nature and face them, examine them... Love them.

And then, and only, then will I be able to really contribute.

To really be of service.

Come join us for this live call.  Where Taber will talk about how to clean out, clear out and prepare ourselves to really be of service.  The call will include not only teachings from Taber, but also the opportunity for you to ask your deepest questions and get answers, to receive personal coaching, to engage and connect with our evolving global conscious community.

"Enlightened action leaves no trace. Enlightened action comes directly from emptiness, not from the mind. It is spontaneous. If it comes in the form of words, the words come from emptiness. If it comes in the form of actions, the actions come from emptiness—from before the personality and the mind."          - Adyashanti
